Join us for the opening of Longing and Belonging, Singaporean photographer Wee Teck Hian's solo exhibition presenting his black-and-white panoramic images documenting the transformation of various spaces in Singapore, including Marina Bay, Tanjong Pagar Railway Station and the forests of Bukit Timah and Kranji.
The images explore what it means to belong to a community and country that is ever changing, and will resonate with anyone who has ever pondered the loss of something familiar.
Wee will also give an artist talk at 7pm as part of the opening reception.
About Wee Teck Hian
Wee Teck Hian began his journey as a photographer in 1997 after an eventful road trip in the United States with friends. He spent 17 years as a photojournalist with a newspaper and covered many major news developments in Singapore.
Outside of work, he embarked on several passion projects including documenting the dramatic redevelopment of the Marina Bay area over a period of 10 years from 2004.
He believes in staying curious and the importance of knowing one's heritage. (www.weeteckhian.com)
